Allied Health Practitioner (Psychologist / Speech and Language Pathologist / Occupational Therapist)
Position Purpose
This position is responsible for providing high quality discipline specific assessment and trauma informed, evidence-based, and other effective, therapeutic interventions for children, young people, and adults.
To be successful in this role you will need to be committed to your development as an allied health professional, while maintaining and upholding the culture and values of Innate Therapies.

Duties
Provide an outstanding therapeutic service to children, young people, and adults.
Undertake assessments for each new client, including administering screening tools and psychometric tests if appropriate.
Develop formulations based upon assessments which inform treatment plans.
Provide a range of therapeutic interventions including but not limited to trauma informed CBT, mindfulness, psychoeducation, positive behaviour support/applied behaviour analysis, attachment-based family and individual interventions (including DBT), and various psychodynamic and expressive therapies.
Enhance psychosocial and development outcomes for children and young people impacted by trauma and other developmental disabilities or difficulties.
Encourage and strengthen supportive relationships with adult care givers.
Conduct discipline specific assessments and write comprehensive reports.
Communicate assessment results and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders including the child, young person, or adult, their family, carers, and/or support providers.
As part of a multi-disciplinary care team, recommend trauma informed, evidence-based, and other effective therapeutic interventions and strategies, to develop outcomes-focused case plans.
Work with team members, other professionals, and agencies to enhance client outcomes.
Participate in joint training and professional development opportunities.
Build and maintain partnerships with all partner agencies for the benefit of the service, children, and the families.
Maintain linkages with Innate Therapies team members and services through regular attendance at team meetings, events, and professional development activities.
Maintain up to date output and outcomes data for all clients as required by Innate Therapies policies and procedures.
Maintain confidentiality and privacy in all matters relating to team members, clients, and procedures.
Fulfill other tasks that your manager/s may reasonably ask you to perform.
Act as a client/customer focused, values-based team member and work collaboratively with Innate Therapies team members and key stakeholder members to achieve strong results across all activities.
Ensure behaviour during all work interactions is aligned to our values of being professional, ethical, team orientated, caring, courageous and collaborative.
- Client assessments and interventions are completed thoroughly, and inform treatment plans, while potential problems and risks are identified
- NDIS compliance is always maintained
- Intervention plans and support initiatives are developed for clients which include evidence-based and therapeutically effective interventions, specific activities and goals to be accomplished
- Client diary and caseloads are full and adequately suited to ensure clients’ engagement and needs are met
- Where necessary, clients’ families and carers etc. are educated regarding plans, goals and support required
- Communication with referrers, timely feedback and written reports are accurate, timely, and correct in accordance with the requirements of each referral
- Clients’ activities and progress is continually assessed and recorded for client evaluations and to monitor progress
- Appropriate systems and processes in place to consistently meet operational, cultural and compliance requirements
- Innate Therapies maintains a positive standing and good reputation in the public
- Proactively engages in peer-to-peer mentoring and sharing of information based on up to date research findings
- Facilitate Group therapy
- Adapt and tailor delivery of the group/program to the needs of the participants /clients ensuring it is appropriate and beneficial
- Evaluate the progress of each group participant/client in regard to their participation, development, and mastery
- Liaise with appropriate stakeholders throughout the program regarding participation and progress of participants/clients whilst maintaining principles of client confidentiality
- Liaise and complete required documentation regarding bookings with Schools/organisations
- Complete necessary documentation regarding attendance as well as progress notes
- Group work/programs are always tailored to the participants/client needs
- Participants/clients show demonstratable signs of progress as a direct result of the group work/program
- Stakeholders are appropriately informed as well as bookings and communication occur in a timely manner
- Attendance documentation and progress notes are always completed in an appropriate and timely manner
- Maintain up to date client records and notes using the Innate Therapies’ client management system in accordance with Innate Therapies policies and procedures, and maintain principles of client confidentiality at all times
- Proactively manage your client diary using the Innate Therapies client management system
- Process payments from clients, schedule further appointments with clients, answer the telephone and tend to reception when needed
- Maintain the physical workspace of Innate Therapies by leaving therapy rooms and the office space in a tidy state, returning therapy items to their designated places and replenishing stock in the clinical rooms as required.
- Participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures
- Client information, history, reports, and programs are correctly recorded in a timely manner
- Consistently responds to referrals, schedules client appointments, and maintains diary
- Workplace is always maintained in a clean and tidy state, all therapy items are returned or replenished consistently
- Greet every person who walks through the door (all clients, families, carers, suppliers, stakeholders, fellow employees etc.) in a polite, professional, and friendly manner
- Ensure a positive experience for each client in line with the Innate Therapies’ culture and vision
- Promote and develop Innate Therapies’ services and reputation through the provision of exceptional client service
- Escalate/rectify any complaints immediately as per Innate Therapies’ processes and procedures
- Acknowledge and attend to any feedback, concerns, or queries in such a way that encourages return business
Provides superior client service and demonstrates a courteous and friendly manner
The positive reputation of Innate Therapies is expanding
Complaints and queries are dealt with effectively in a timely manner
Demonstrates a commitment to professional development through participation in relevant professional development activities
Maintain commitment to consuming and integrating psychological research literature and applying key findings to practice under the direction of clinical supervisors
Identify personal training and development needs and sources of professional development opportunities
Contributes to the continuing professional development of colleagues by providing feedback on professional development attended via formal and informal peer meetings
Develops and evaluates resources as a result of professional development activities including relevant research findings
Regularly seeks further professional training and development
Uses professional development activities to increase the success of both clients and Innate Therapies
- Always maintain and encourage the highest safety standards
- Comply with all WH&S standards, policies, and procedures
- Report all accidents and/or incidents to management immediately
- Conduct periodic checks to remove hazards from work areas
- Rectify identified hazards where possible and report to management ASAP
Consistently adheres to WHS policies and procedures

Zero preventable WH&S incidents

- High Leve of cultural awareness and experience working with families from different cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander people.

Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum tertiary degree in allied health (Psychology, Speech Pathology or Occupational Therapy).
- For Psychologists, minimum provisional registration with AHPRA
- Clinical knowledge and skills commensurate to the role, related but not limited to, clinical assessment, formulation, and trauma informed, evidence-based, and other effective, interventions and treatment
- At least two years’ experience working therapeutically with children, young people, and families impacted by trauma, abuse and/or neglect, or more than five years’ experience working in similar roles.
- Proficiency with computers especially Microsoft Office Applications and client management software
- Be physically fit with unrestricted ability to lift, bend, stretch and twist
- Previous experience or qualifications in Expressive Therapies
- Previous experience within the counselling or disability services sector, working with NDIS participants with complex needs
- Queensland Current C Class Driver’s Licence
- Queensland Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
- NDIS Disability Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card)
- A National Police/Criminal History Check
- First Aid Certificate (HLTAID003)
- CPR Certificate (HLTAID001)
- Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) or equivalent
- Demonstratable knowledge and understanding of the Disability Services Act, National Disability Insurance Scheme Act, National Disability Services Operational Guidelines and the NDIS Operational Guidelines
