Online Parenting Classes
Online parenting classes
Unfortunately, children don’t come with an operation manual. Whilst parenting comes naturally to some, for the most part it is a struggle as we negotiate all the twists and turns that come with parenthood. Just when you think you have it mastered, along comes another phase to work out and learn to handle. We have all heard about the terrible twos but in reality it is just a phase and there are many of them through a child’s life. The key to negotiating them is to draw on as many resources as you can and to realise you are not alone.
What are parenting classes?
Parenting classes are for anyone that wants to understand the phases and changes that happen as a child grows and who wants to learn the skills necessary to allow you to raise your child without added stress.
The other benefit to parenting classes is that you soon realise your child is not all that unique when it comes behaviour. Whilst we are all unique in a lot of ways, when it comes to going through different phases our children are actually quite alike. This is why we have milestones, because during the first 18 years of life we tend to go through similar things at approximately the same time. Therefore, we have phases such as Terrible Two’s and teenage years and many more that don’t have specific names.
What are the benefits of online parenting classes?
Online parenting classes are fantastic for those that work shift work or find it hard to get a babysitter or childminder. Online classes allow you to attend the class while still being home for your family and it also allows both parents or additional caregivers to be in attendance so that you are working together from the same rule book when it comes to raising your children.
What are the disadvantages of online classes?
While online classes are fantastic for those that are time poor and unable to leave the children, they do have some setbacks in that you don’t get to mingle with other parents and hear stories from others. This connection can become invaluable as a parent as you mix with other parents going through the same things as you.
Whether you choose an online or offline class, the important thing is to go into it with an open mind and know that you are not alone in the world of parenting and that seeking help or support is part of becoming a fantastic parent.
